Waffles
my ideal breakfast
My husband started a tradition to make me waffles for breakfast on my birthday every year. He wakes up really early and sneaks out of bed to bake them in the kitchen, and it is my favorite thing. I love waffles, maybe even more than I love pancakes. I love thin waffles, chewy waffles, crispy waffles, Belgian waffles, Stroopwafel, you name it. I do like to save them for a special occasion ( also, the waffle maker is always tedious to clean up ). It's a good thing today is Christmas; I think we've got ourselves a new tradition!
These are chewy ( if you like them crispier, just leave them longer in the waffle maker ), not too sweet, and perfectly delicious. The batter comes together in one bowl. And since the sugar is not too present, they make for beautiful savory waffles.
